One heckin year

I had my first chemo infusion a year ago today, which I think marks my start of active treatment? 6 rounds of TCHP, lumpectomy + sentinel lymph node biopsy (surgery), 2 rounds of HP, 6.5 weeks of radiation, 1 ER visit, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (surgery), 8 rounds of Enhertu, 83 in-person appointments. So many tests. So many pills.

But also: so many fun and encouraging messages, cards, letters, presents, packages, and treats, even when I’m beyond terrible at responding, ever. So many people willing to hang with me even when I’m a tired mess. So many times my parents drove me to my appointments and made me food. So many times my sweet mama massaged my aches away.

And also: I went to the beach twice last week. And there was this amazing cattle egret that followed right behind Jordan and used him as a larger distraction and ate FIVE lizards.

And also also: Jenni and Rich and Jordan and I went to see You Can See Everything over the weekend and are still talking about it. What a movie.

I’m also very happy to report that the torso pain (aka jellyfish skin) went away, and the subsequent constant toe pain has now also gone away, and I’ve just experienced my first (mostly) pain-free week since…early August. Turns out constant pain is pretty exhausting, so I’m slowly getting the energy back to do things again. I’ve read two books! I did laundry, *and* put it away! I even mustered up the energy to use two exclamation points. Wait, three! And now, it’s bedtime.
