Holy fatigue, Batman!

Round 3, day 3. Bloodwork has me as “mildly anemic” and with the Benadryl before chemo 3 and the anti-nausea meds I’m on, holy cow is it sleepy around here. Yesterday I took a 5-hour nap, then a 3-hour nap, then went to bed. This afternoon I took a very reasonable 4-hour nap.

During the last round, I had a rough sick day and then had a swollen/sore throat for the next 12 days, which was kind of a big bummer, especially when my stomach started hating most of the foods I wanted to eat. But Jordan got me Ensure and the miracle that is cottage cheese and I survived.

Side effects…aside…there’s good news! Met with my oncologist on Monday and during the exam he said that the lump is definitely more vague and less distinct and that it was hard to be sure he had the edges of it to measure – all good signs that “it’s melting.” With triple positive, it’s a 50/50 on whether I’ll be all clear after the surgery (if I’m not, there’s a different chemo regimen that I’ll be put on), but for now it’s still nice to know that the chemo is effing up this tumor.

I’ve been cold capping during chemo in an attempt to save my hair, and it’s been pretty successful! I’m definitely losing a bunch, but it helps that I had so much hair to start with. For whatever reason, most of it seems to be coming from the left side of my head. Other body hair has been falling out or barely growing, and it’s just the weirdest reminder that these drugs are making my body into such a toxic place that all my hairs are like “nope, I’m outta here!”

I’ve been awake for three hours now, so I think we can all agree that it’s time for my pre-bedtime nap. Byezzzzzz

Thanks for the update Sweetie…like you said, fatigue and throat discomfort aside (i know, easy for me to say!) very encouraged to the killler chemistry is/has taken the upper hand in the jihad being waged in your body.

And FWIW, consider all this additional sack time as a ‘sleep IRA’ for when you’re an old fart like me where sleeping 3-4 hours/night is not only a luxury but an anomaly…

    Love you, UN

Another stellar update. Keep effing up that cancer. Also, as I’m sure Jordan has told you, as we men grow older we grow hair where we don’t wait it…like our backs. Let me know if you want me to donate some back hair. I’m hitting “send” before I re-read this and realize how gross an offer it is.
