Ouch and thanks

Port placement recovery has been more painful than expected, but thankfully no complications or issues. I was told it can be more painful for thinner people, so clearly it’s because I’m just so dang fit.

I was waiting for my (third) biopsy when I got the call that my port placement would be the next morning…and when I got home, I found a package with a few really helpful things in it, including a seatbelt pillow. It was perfect timing and has made the drives since the biopsy and surgery way more manageable. So thank you, mystery sender.

And thank you to all who have reached out! Even if I haven’t responded (I’m never good at texting, and it’s been extra dang busy ’round here), it is so nice to have your funny/sweet/encouraging words popping up.

I would like to say for the record that of course nobody needs to send me anything, but also say thank you…so many of these things have already been helpful and heartening, on multiple levels. Excited to start on a Lego kit once I can move without pain again! And grateful that I’ll have a bag full of distracting/entertaining things to occupy my time in chemo. We got a look at the treatment room yesterday and – shocker – it’s kind of a bummer space.

Anyway, here’s a pic of me and my sweet mama post-pedicure on Thursday. (It was my first of 2025, cuz hiking Haleakala with Jordan in January effed up my toenails for a whiiiiiile). You can’t tell with these website colors, but our toes are heckin pretty!

Really are toenails necessary anymore? Unless you’re sharpening them and fighting using your feet.

Don’t forget to make a wishlist for when Jax arrives. I’m mainly thinking a TJ’s resupply. We also have a billion (literally) legos here if you want any.
