Questions I’ve asked in the last couple weeks:

“Is it still throwing up if nothing ups?”

“Why am I so tired?”

“Is this what a hot flash feels like?”

“Does this taste normal to you?”

“How do you know if you’re depressed?”

I’m fiiiine. I’m just anemic and and deep in chemo and round 4 has had me experiencing worse and exciting new side effects. Also, we’re in a Kona low weather situation and it’s been unsunny for way too long. I know, I know – some of you have had actually terrible weather lately; this old video of Triumph mocking Hawaii weather remains relevant and hilarious.

I just asked Jordan to rate my average state/mood during this round, and he immediately grimaced and then carefully said, “Less happy than usual.”

It’s not constantly sad times – there’s been a lot of fun and laughter and happiness! Jacky and her family were here for Christmas and it was wonderful, and there was one day where the sun was out and we ate pizza at the beach, and my mom said Jordan “won Christmas” when he was sent the wrong delivery and it was the gift that just kept giving.

Genuinely sorry if you’ve reached out and I just straight up haven’t responded. I WANT to respond, I miss talking to people, it’s just felt too exhausting to figure out how to communicate when I feel so far away from being myself.

If you can taste it and stomach it, please eat something you love today, for those of us who can’t. Like a whole bag of chips! If you see chips, tell them I miss them.

4 rounds in! Kicking ass and chips on the horizon soon. Thanks for the update and don’t feel bad about not responding. You’re doing exactly what you need to be doing. Love, sun, chips, and flying chickens to you and all in your orbit.
