I’ve got the chemo in me

Hit a real four-bagger yesterday with the first TCHP. Sister Jacky was back there a ton, (despite there being no chair and very little standing room,) and she kept looking up the street prices of the drugs being pumped into me. Pretty pricy liquids!

First bag was fine. Second bag – trastuzumab – hit me with some hip/lower back pain at the very end, so they paused it and gave me more steroids and Benadryl, which made me super groggy the rest of the day…and last night..and today. Although I’m on other drugs, too, so maybe they’re the grogmakers. The groggy guys. The groggerz. Managed to work today, do 11 flights of stairs and a leg exercise…then fell asleep on the couch.

Other bags were fine. Cold cap made me feel like the Predator cuz I had big dark tubes hanging down. Long day overall – went in at 8:30 and left at 5. The next ones should be faster because they can combine the first two bags, maybe? And do ’em at higher rates. We’ll see.

Nurses were super nice, and got even nicer once Jacky gave them all thank you notes with Starbucks gift cards.

Jacky also brought super comfy matching outfits for us sisters to wear. Mine came with a skirt, but I wanted to wear my new leggings. Jenni and Jacky committed to the look for the whole day and really jazzed up the waiting room with their ‘fits.

Also here I am in the chair, wearing all my comfy things and waiting to be hooked up.

Had Jordan sit this one out cuz it felt really high-maintenance to have THREE people in the waiting room all day just for me…plus he didn’t have a matching outfit. But he’s here! And he’s great. We almost started a LEGO kit today but I got distracted by exhaustion and he was busy hanging a TV on the wall, which really blew the nephews’ minds because we have never been a “mounted TV” kind of family. We now have an elevated viewing experience. (Pun!)

Now to shower…to sleep…to sleep, perchance to dream.
